Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

What is Refractive Lens Exchange?

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is an advanced vision correction option designed for patients who want freedom from glasses or contact lenses. It’s similar to cataract surgery but performed before cataracts develop. RLE replaces the natural lens with an advanced technology lens implant. It can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, and astigmatism.

Patients who are not ideal candidates for LASIK or PRK often benefit from RLE. The procedure provides long-lasting results, and because the lens won’t develop cataracts, it also prevents cataract surgery later in life.

Ask your surgeon if Refractive Lens Exchange is an option for you

Most patients return to normal activities within a few days, with vision continuing to improve over several weeks.
